FAQ
These are some questions we get asked all the time!
Product
Where do you make your games?
We are proud to say that the majority of the game development and production has been done in Spain. Boardquest has been a collaboration of artists, developers, designers, manufactures and other creators of multiple nationalities. The figures have been produced using the cutting edge SIOCAST technology invented in Spain.
Do you plan to release Boardquest expansions?
That's our long term goal. We have designed our first expansion, but given the complexity and length of a production process (funding, art, manufacturing, and others) we are expecting it to become available in 2027.
My language version is out-of-stock. When do you expect a reprint?
Thank you for your interest! We are expecting a reprint in 2026. In the meantime make sure to add your name to the waitlist so that we can gauge the demand and plan accordingly!

Game Design
Is this a family-friendly game?
Yes! Boardquest is a perfect family game: our language is inclusive and child-friendly, with limited fantasy violence. The units are defeated – but not killed – and leave the map when their HP drains to 0. With our special mods you can resurrect your defeated Heroes, allowing for all family to enjoy the fun without having to sit through eliminations.
Is this an accessible game?
Accessibility has been one of our top priorities when designing the game mechanics and its visual system. These are some of the design principles you will see in the game:
- We never rely exclusively on color to communicate important information to the player. While color is important for establishing the faction brand and the general mood of the game, actionable information is always conveyed through a combination of patterns, symbols and text.
- Distinguishable minis. Our minis are color-coded per faction and hence are clearly distinguishable on the board in a simple eye scan. Beyond color, each faction has a similar look and feel, making them easy to process as a group.
- Use of labels. We never rely solely on icons to communicate important information to the player: whenever icons appear, they come with additional text label to aid the player.
- Font legibility. Our cards and books are easy to read: the font size is above the industry standard. Whenever a smaller surface was a constraint, we opted for reducing the content and using sans-serif fonts instead of decreasing the font size.
Is there gore and violence in the game?
We do not use violence, violent language, graphical depictions, gore, or adult content in the game. The game characters may equip and use fantasy weapons such as swords, bows, and shields. The goal is to deplete the Health Points of the adversaries and remove them from the map.
Is Boardquest inspired by Warcraft 3?
Boardquest is drawing inspiration from various games, including Warcraft 3. Gamers familiar with the title will recognize those elements. Boardquest does not aspire to be a Warcraft 3 board game adaptation.
Are the factions in Boardquest well balanced?
We have done something unprecedented in board game design when working out the correct balancing between factions: we've built an AI engine to test it. Boardquest has been translated to a video game version which has become a perfect simulation ground to test the system's strength. This setup had allowed us to ran thousands of tests and tweak the unit and item stats accordingly. The AI engine helped us catch exceptions that could have been fun-breaking for the players.
Can you play the game solo?
Boardquest can be enjoyed as a single player experience. The board game includes 2 Story Books, each containing scenarios made with solo players in mind. The scenarios go through the origin story of Liria and retell it from two perspectives: the defenders and the newcomers. The game play is similar to that of a dungeon crawler. The scenarios may be played in any order and replayed. There is also a difficulty setting that caters to the genre newcomers as well as advanced players.
